YOUR WORK CAN BE MUCH MORE THAN A SOURCE OF INCOME

400 years ago, the GDP of the Indian subcontinent was 22-23% of the GDP of the whole world. And the richest region in all of subcontinent was Bengal. Four centuries later, we are one of the poorest regions in the world. Why did this happen?

We believe the answer is the gradual change in our attitude. Instead of looking at work as way to use our unique talents in the service of others, we now see work as only a way to earn more and more money. Professors, doctors, MBAs and ordinary jobholders, we have all stopped taking our work as a mission. (There are exceptions of course.) As a result the joy of work has disappeared from our lives, and so have creativity, success, and ironically – prosperity.
Wrong attitude leads to frustration and failure in many different ways. For example, many of us think we are not getting jobs because of lack of connections or experience. But the truth is if you yourself firmly believe you can handle the responsibilities of the job successfully, and can communicate that to the selection board, no one can stop you from getting the job. The secret to getting a job is confidence. Others refuse job offers because it doesn’t pay much, or because it is not ‘socially respectable’. Yet an employed person always has a better chance of getting a good job offer than an unemployed one.
Again, many of us want to start a business but keep waiting for a lot of capital, not realizing that most of the world’s successful business people – from Bill Gates, Henry Ford, or Honda to our very own Harun ur Rashid Munnu or Jahirul Islam, started with very little capital.

Following the five Quantum Principles of Professional Success will help you become successful in professional life. Here they are:

Develop your skills and work with full sincerity.
Never do your work half–heartedly.
Never try to eye wash your boss or others.
If you stay true to your work, you will be definitely rewarded,
if not this organization, then in another.
When faced by new and challenging situations at work, do not be discouraged; instead face the situation bravely and wisely.
Every new challenge is an oppurtunity in disguise.
If you have coworker problems, do not complain. Stay proactive and solve the problem tactfully.
If you are working for somebody, give him your sincere and complete obedience. It is impossible to advance in the organization unless you can earn your boss’s complete trust and confidence.
Evaluate yourself everyday to ensure continuous development of your skills, managerial and leadership abilities.
Also, here are a few formulas of how to succeed in different types of professions.

General Jobs: Intelligence + Hard Work+ Complete Obedience

Technical Jobs: Intelligence + Technical Expertise + Complete Obedience

Independent Professionals: Lawyers, Accountants, Doctors doing independent

practice:Intelligence + Specialized Knowledge + Hard Work + Initiative + Public Relations

Business: Capital + Initiative + Hard work+ Managerial Ability + Marketing Skills

But always remember life is much bigger than a source of living . Failing to realize the difference between the two will surely lead to frustration, despair and emptiness in the long run – no matter how professionally successful you are.Nor is your career, or work life equivalent to simply advancing fast in your work and earning a lot of money. Career in its true sence means developing your unique talents, and using them joyfully in the service of others, so that the coming generations remain indebted to you forever. Only then will you get true inner satisfaction from your work, and die with the knowledge that “ I did all that I could.”
